Workout Clothing For Plus Sized

Last week, the blog post was my picks for the best workout gear (check it out here). But what about for larger sizes? I got a guest to write this post because she is a plus sized woman!

See Her Opinion Below!

Being a plus size woman, who is also 6 feet tall with a longer torso, buying any clothing can be difficult…let alone workout clothing. Like I said, I’m 6 feet tall and typically wear a size 18 or XL.  So here are some that I like, and some not so much.

Fabletics

I have 2 pairs of Fabletics leggings, and I love them. I think these are on the mid-upper price range, but they are worth it. They provide great all over support, are not too constricting, and the top does not roll down. I wear them to work out and for daily activities…even work.

If you’re a first-time purchaser, you can get the 2 for $24 offer. You’ll have to sign up for the membership, but that can be cancelled at any time. After the initial purchase, or if you don’t want to sign up, the leggings run about $40-70/pair.

Champion

Champion leggings, the C9 collection, are a go to for me, for workouts only! I like them because they are supportive, do not roll and are on the thinner side without being see-through. I have about 6 pairs and I live in them! Ha.  One downside is that the material can intensify your odor after a hard, sweaty work out. Eh. We’ve all got it.

Target, Walmart, and Kohl’s carry them. You can also find them on Amazon, and they usually run between $20-35/pair. They are extremely comfortable, affordable, and one of my favorites.

The Champion sports bras are nice as well because they come in a variety of styles and support options. I need a lot of support and prefer the kind that have a little cup padding.

Curves and Combatboots

I love these! They have so many colors and styles, they are on the thinner side, stay in place, supportive, and look fabulous! These are on the higher price end, running around $65/pair…but they are worth it. They are great for women with curves, hence the name, as well as the less curvy. They really are a great pair of leggings.

I have 2 pair and planning to buy more soon. They also have kids sizes. I just bought a pair for my 6 year old niece who likes to go on runs with her mama.

SheFit

I’m not sure these sports bras are not a good fit for me, but may give them 1 more try. They are on the pricier end, running about $65-70/bra. They’re not easy to put on, lots of straps and velcros which are supposed to help you get the best support for you…I just find them obnoxious.

I very well may need a different size, but the bra I purchased just isn’t comfortable on me. It’s fine in the cup area, yet the band around my chest and straps over my shoulders are hard and leave marks no matter how tight or loose I make them. Also, the bra zips up the middle and it is so not easy to keep together and get zipped. Sorry.

RBX

I just got my first pair of RBX Active leggings and they’re pretty nice. They are very comfortable and not too tight. If you need them to be tighter with extra support, I would order a size down. I however like the more loose feel of them. Great for every day or light work outs.

The cost on mine was about $35, so not too crazy. I think they are definitely worth it.
