I don’t know about you, but I love workout clothes, especially leggings and running shorts. Next to jeans and a t-shirt, they are my go-to outfits. I have even hinted to my bosses that maybe we be able to wear them in the clinic.
I also know that there are so many brands to pick from out there. I for one have purchased many different brands on both the high and low end of the price spectrum.
I am going to give a rundown of the brands I have personally tried and give my opinion on the best for the buck.
Lululemon
Lululemon brand is definitely on the higher price level. I have one pair of pants from Lululemon, and I love them! I work out in them and lounge in them, I have even worn them to work a couple of time (shh!). I even love the tank tops that I currently own.
I also have a couple of sports bras and must admit, they are (next to Under Armor) my most favorite! The bottom does not roll up, it is very supportive even for high level activities like running and jumping.
I will admit that they are worth the money, but it is understandable if this brand is not for you, I also find it hard to purchase any kind of clothing where one piece is upwards of $100. But they do have good sales often, so if this is a brand you want to try keep a look out!
Under Armor
I love the factory outlets for UA. On one trip, I spent less than $100 but got 3 pairs of leggings, a jacket and multiple shirts. This is another brand that can be expensive, but the outlets are the not-so-well-kept secret! This is my number one pick for workout clothes!
The pairs of leggings I own, have lasted more than a year with no rips or tears. They are also not see-through, which is a pet peeve for me. The only thing about the leggings I do not care for is the drawstring waist. I removed these for comfort’s sake.
I also have multiple shirts and shorts. Everything is comfortable and lasts a long time. This is probably my go to brand of workout gear, but of course from the outlet mall!
Nike
Nike is another brand that I love for the clothes and the shoes. But can be very expensive almost on the level of lululemon. So, once again, the outlet store here I come!
I have had one specific outfit that I love and have had for more than 4 years but will say that the shirt has some snags.
I love Nike shoes because they have always fit me well and are comfortable. In fact, I have been wearing their shoes since I was in high school for all of my sports. I continue to wear them now to work and workout in. I have tried other brands of shoe that work well too, but always come back to Nike.
Target
My workout clothes from target were probably my least favorite, however that does not mean they are bad. I have had sports bras for more than 4 years that I still wear weekly. They came with padding that I removed because I used them as nursing bras, and they worked wonderfully.
I recently purchased a pair of bike shorts. The fit is little tighter than what I wanted, but they still work well. I say these workout clothes are my least favorite because they are a fabric that is not preferred, mainly because they make me itchy. But I will say they work well and are still extremely affordable.
Old Navy
Old Navy is my second place pick for affordable workout gear! This is the case for multiple reasons including the affordability, fit, and type of material used.
I own multiple pairs of leggings, bike shorts, regular running shorts, shirts, and tank tops. The pants and tank tops that I own have lasted more than 4 years without any noticeable wear and tear, except for slight fading of one tank top from washing. All of the clothes fit amazingly and do not lose their fit when worn or washed. The best part: it is so cost effective!!!
Not Tried
Brands I have not tried for workout clothes are Amazon, Fabletics, or Athleta. I do know Fabletics has good sales if you are a member and Amazon leggings have amazing reviews, but I have not gotten around to those yet. I have a pair of Athleta pants that I wear to work but they are not for working out.
In the end if you have a favorite place to buy workout clothes stick with it, but I would also recommend trying one of the ones listed above.
