I make goals for the new year so my year has focus and meaning.
If you have been around for a while, you know I do not like New Year’s Resolutions. Instead, I prefer goals for the year that I can work on all year round.
My Rules for Goals
- I try to make my goals specific and break down into smaller goals if needed before I achieve them.
- I let some flexibility to the goal if they become too hard or things happen throughout the year to change the goal.
- I want my goals to be achievable. If I make smaller goals then after that, I can try to go further and beyond
Resolutions, in my mind, are just blanket statements. Sometimes too much to complete and do not allow for leeway or ways to help achieve them.
My 2025 Goals
- Wake up at 5 every weekday morning and 6 every weekend morning.
- I am already waking up between 5-6 for work. I want to be more consistent with these times to get my body better regulated for those earlier mornings.
- Nutrition Certification
- While working on my CSCS, I found out about a nutrition certification. I have always been interested in learning more about nutrition, but did not want to go back to school for it. This seems like a good alternative.
- Go hiking with my kids on Sunday mornings.
- My husband works weekends, so I wanted to find something for my kids and I to do outdoors. I received hiking boots for Christmas and want to put them to good use this year.
- Also my kids often ask if we can go on a walk or hike, so trying to do this will keep us all from going stir crazy.
- Make a To Do List everyday.
- I am a big list person. If I make a list of at least 3 things to do everyday (most important things for that day), I know I will stick to it and be more productive.
- I have heard of people doing this and want to try to implement it in my life.
You can look at my previous years goals here.
Like usual, I want to make this year a good one. I do not want to look back and think I could have done more. This has been the case for the last several years (mainly because they go by way too fast).
It probably sounds corny, but I want to make life great for myself and my family, so having a good year will hopefully help me along the way.
Just like I make goals for the new year so my year has focus and meaning, I hope you try it out. Let me know what your goals for 2025 are and good luck along the way.
