A medicine ball is a weighted ball that can be used for different exercises.
It is commonly used in CrossFit workouts but can be used outside of them as well. I will use them with my own HIIT workout or with core exercises (check out my HIIT workout post here)
You can get medicine balls in different weights as well. Mine is from Rogue and is 14 pounds. This is the one here.
When I do a medicine ball workout, I am working on strength and cardio at the same time. This helps improve my overall physical fitness.
I enjoy working with medicine balls because it helps break up any monotony of other strengthening workouts.

During the medicine ball workout, I will do one exercise for 40-60 seconds then rest for 15-20 seconds. I will usually go through the exercises 3 times each reaching a 30-minute workout.
You can always add in another round or two for a longer workout.
