A day in the life can be tricky when your days are different every day of the week, however they are usually the same week to week.
My hours at work are usually 8-4 but I have time throughout the day that I am not seeing a client.
5:30 am
Wake up! I prefer to do a workout in the morning before my children wake up and because I do not trust myself to do it in the evening when I am tired.
6:30-7:30 am
Shower, get ready for work, and eat breakfast. When I do not wash my hair, it takes me about 30 minutes to shower and get dressed for work.
I have been having the same breakfast for the last 4 years. A protein shake that I make myself. It is much easier in the morning to not worry about what to have for breakfast.
This is usually the time I will make my lunch for the day as well.
8:00 am–5:00 pm
At clinic with patients. During this time, I see between 4-6 patients. There are times I have seen as many as 8 in a day and as little as 2.
In my down time, I will do my notes or work on my blog posts.
There are also times when I have a later patient but that is rare.
5:30 pm-8:00pm
I am usually home by this time, and we have our nighttime routines. Dinner is usually about 6pm.
Then, I will clean up the kitchen while my husband showers and gets ready for work the next day. My kids will also shower and get ready for bed.
By 7:30, they are all ready for bed. We will watch a TV show, or I will read to my kids. The kids and my husband are in bed by 8 pm (hubby wakes up at 3:30am for work and even on his days off).
8:00 pm-9:00 pm
This is my time to get ready for bed. Washing my face, brushing teeth, and getting into pajamas. I like to be laying down by 9 pm but earlier happens some of the time.
I will finish my day by meditating. I use the Apple+ Fitness app for the meditation while I lay in bed (check out my meditation blog post here). After a busy day, my mind needs help sometimes turning off to get a good night sleep.
Other Activities
A day in the life is not complete without some of these other things I do throughout the work week including grocery shopping and kid’s activities.
I purchase my groceries through the Smith’s app. This allows me to make my list throughout the week and pick up when I am able. We started picking up our groceries during COVID pandemic and have kept it up. It is much easier than spending time at the grocery store every week and it allows me to stay on budget.
Depending on the season, my kids are in different sports, so their practices are planned in there when needed. They also have piano lessons once a week after school that my husband takes them to on his days off.
We try not to plan much on the weekends, so we have family time, but I will still workout early in the mornings and have my same breakfast.
This is a typical day in the life but things do change from time to time.
