3 Years of Moveyourashpt

This week is 3 years of moveyourashpt!

Before the 2020 pandemic, I was contemplating blogging. During the shutdown, I began writing posts to see if I even would enjoy putting time into the writing process. Turns out I did.

For a year, I would write posts and come up with ideas for future posts. It was during this time I also got interested in lifting weights. And decided to dedicate time to PT and fitness with the blog.

My main reason for starting the blog on the PT side was to improve awareness of what a physical therapist does. I also wanted to explain more about how we can help people.

Being new to resistance training, I decided to include fitness because it can be hard to start working out but I wanted to show it can be easier than people think.

During these 3-4 years, I have had to figure out how to balance the blog with working full time and spending time with my family. And at times that has meant not putting out a post that week. But this is something I love doing and even though it is a hobby, it is important to me.

I posted a blog a while back about importance of mental health and doing things for yourself. This blog is that for me. Check out that blog post here.

Over the last few years, I have learned that having this blog does take a lot more work than I  ever thought. I had hoped at one point that I might be able to monetize and maybe I still can, but that thinking had to change. It can still be a goal for the future but the main goal has to be to have fun and teach people about PT.

Since finishing school, I have learned that we as PTs are not taken as seriously as we hoped. It is my desire to help change that in the future. This blog is my way of doing that.

I want to thank all of you for sticking with me these last 3 years of moveyourashpt. There is more to come. And hopefully moveyourashpt will continue to grow!
